Celebrating 33 Years - Optix Family Eyecare | Long Island Eye Doctor
Celebrating our 33th year in the Plainview community, Optix Family Eyecare has grown substantially since 1984 to include four doctors supported by a knowledgeable and dedicated staff. Each doctor is licensed to treat many eye diseases, also co-managing special needs with medical eye specialists in the area. The doctors are also experts providing not only the standard contact lenses, but also hard-to-fit contact lenses for people with distinctive needs. When it comes to choosing eyewear, Optix is proud to showcase one of the largest selections of designer eyeglasses and sunglasses of any private optometry practice on Long Island.
One of the keys to the Optix success story has been keeping current with technology. Our exam equipment is all digital, current and top of the line, allowing for precise measurements of the eye and visual system. Eyeglass prescriptions are accurately measured with little input from our patients, reducing the stress of having to choose from number 1 or 2. Although choosing from number 1 or 2 is still part of how we determine eyeglass prescriptions, our technology has mostly pre-determined what the patient’s prescription will be. Adding to our medical assessment of our patient’s eyes are our instruments OPTOS, OCT, VISUAL FIELD ANALYZER and many more. Explains Optix Family Eyecare founder Dr. Joel Kestenbaum, you can’t have too much technology, but you can have too little. At Optix, we have the perfect balance of technology and the right team of knowledgeable people. Educated and caring people are our core. Many have been with our practice for over 15 years, providing consistent treatment to our patients, year after year.
Referrals from other patients are the backbone of our growth over the years but we also have a very strong presence on social media. Our marketing execution is high tech, reaching out exclusively on line via our website, email, Google, Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Along with patient referrals, internet marketing brings us a significant percentage of new patients.
On the more low-tech side, The Optix staff are personable people. We want to get to know our patients, not just their eyes. We want to know about your kids and your friends and family. We want to know what makes you tick. This is how we can provide the best overall care for you. We ask our whole team to be themselves and tell others what they do best. But also to be honest and admit when they don’t know the answer. We always will have someone who can find the answers for you.
Giving back to the community is very important to both the owners and the Optix team. We are members of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce, we participate in Relay for Life, we donate eyewear and eye examinations to those in need, both at home and abroad, and we have met some really nice people who are giving back to the community and the world.
Thirty-Three years is a long time and we thank our community for supporting us. Cheers to our next 33 years. We wish everyone a happy holiday season and a joyous New Year.
