Optix Family Eyecare Improves

What a year it has been so far for the patients and the staff at Optix Family Eyecare.  If you didn’t already know, Optix moved its location right next store, increasing its size to improve our patient experience.  With the changing face of medical care and reduced insurance reimbursements to the doctors, including eye care professionals, doctors must see more and more patients in a given period of time and must become more efficient in doing so.  In order to accommodate some of these changes, it is necessary to have more space and hire more qualified staff to care for our patients.

New Additions and The Future of Optix in Long Island

Our first step, moving into a larger, modernized space, happened around Christmas of 2015.  Since that time, we have added additional doctor evenings and Saturday hours.  On Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, we have two doctors to care for our patients.  We have hired and trained additional personnel to assist the doctors in the examination process.  To streamline our patient visits, reducing time in the office, we have hired a consultant to improve our systems.  As a result, our patient experience has improved tremendously.  That was very hard to do, as our patients have routinely told us that we are the best eye care office that they had ever visited.

We have developed new systems to collect insurance or vision plan information prior to your visit.  Information can also be collected via our secure website.  Our four NY State licensed opticians have years of combined knowledge and expertise to help our patients select the most suitable eyewear paying particular attention to the quality of the lenses.  We all know that frame styling is important, but it is the choice of lenses and lens treatments that will provide the superiority of vision, reducing eye strain to improve the quality of life.  In this light, we welcome back Beth Burton as one of our NYS Licensed Opticians.  Over 14 years ago, Beth left to raise a child and work closer to home.  It was a tremendous loss for Optix and our patients at the time.  Now that Beth’s son is grown, we convinced her to rejoin our family.  Our patients and our staff are thrilled to have her back, bringing her knowledge and delightful personality to our team.

More space has given us the opportunity to purchase additional technology to improve patient diagnosis capabilities and patient visual outcomes.  We have added an additional exam room, reducing the wait time for our patients.  A sophisticated measuring device is now being used by the opticians to ensure that all prescriptions are filled as accurately as possible.  We will soon be installing a “Smart Mirror,” allowing us to take pictures of our patients so that they can see themselves in their glasses prior to purchase.  This technology will even let our patients post photos to their, email, Facebook or Twitter accounts.

Change means moving forward.  Not changing is moving backwards.  The team at Optix Family Eyecare is forever changing in some way so that we can bring the latest and the greatest in eye care technology to our patients.  Continuing our objectives started in 1984, we are committed to our motto, “Your Vision, Your Look, Our Focus.”
