Sleep in special molding lenses and wake up seeing clear! | Long Island Eye Doctor

Suchi Matalia, OD

What if your eye doctor gave you permission to sleep in lenses?  What if you could wake up in the morning and see everything clearly?  What if you didn’t have to worry about glasses/contact lenses while you were awake?  What if you could prevent your child’s prescription from getting worse as they grow older?

Have you heard about Orthokeratology?  Orthokeratology is also known as Ortho-K and/or Overnight Vision Correction.

Orthokeratology is a non-surgical treatment process where you wear special molding lenses in your eyes while you sleep.  These eye retainers reshape the front part of your eye so you can have clear vision during your waking hours.  The molding lenses need to be worn every night for optimum results.

This treatment works great for nearsighted people, but can sometimes work for hyperopic and presbyopic patients as well.  Ortho-K is great for those who suffer from dry eyes due to contact lenses, or do not like wearing glasses.  Ortho-K is especially great for growing children, as recent studies show the effectiveness of myopic control and slowing down the progression of myopia.
