Love At First Sight | Long Island Eye Doctor
What does your newborn baby see when they are born. At first babies are very nearsighted so they cannot see very well. Their vision is between 20/200 and 20/400 which corresponds to the big E on the eye chart. Babies best vision is at about a foot away from their faces. For the first three months they will be developing face recognition, color vision and eye coordination.
Helpful toys at this time would be a brightly colored mobile that turns and a mirror. You will notice that your baby is starting to recognize familiar faces and following simple objects. Have fun watching your newborns as they develop their new found sight.
